At 615 am CST...radar indicated a band of showers and embedded thunderstorms stretching from north of the Quad Cities...near Savanna...southeast through Amboy and Morris...to just south of Kankakee...to Milford. Through 8 am CST...this band of showers and embedded thunderstorms will continue to spread north across the Rockford...Belvidere...Elgin...Gary and Rensselaer areas. The heaviest showers...and a few thunderstorms capable of producing some pea sized hail...will affect areas south of Chicago early this morning.

Tonight...Cloudy. Showers likely with a chance of thunderstorms in the evening...then a chance of showers after midnight. Patchy fog after midnight. Lows in the lower 40s. South winds around 10 mph until early morning becoming light and variable during the predawn hours. Chance of precipitation 60 percent.
Friday...Cloudy with a 50 percent chance of showers. Highs in the lower 50s. Light and variable winds until late afternoon becoming northeast 10 to 15 mph late in the afternoon.
